

I forgot in my earlier post: I think this is overblown. It's the whole "meh, fuck your lore" attitude And without the need for a silly "Death Star+". One can easily see how this could have translated to a much more interesting version of TFA, where we actually see the FO acting like this, only stepping out of the shadows during the movie, activating all the agents and contingencies they slowly placed inside the New Republic, destroying it from the inside. Here, we find a much more interesting First Order, hiding in the shadows and using intermediaries to advance their goals.

This is especially annoying when one sees the setup done for this in Resistance and especially the Bloodline novel. What is the First Order? Why is the New Republic seemingly so useless? What is going on with Han and Leia? TFA was decent, but aside from the (quite sensible) complaint that it basically is just a strange repeat of ANH, it just failed to properly set up the changed universe we find ourself in.

Yes, it has problems, no discussion there, but the messaging and the setup it ended upon is, to me, just great, but sadly thrown away in TRoS. ||| Join our Discord! ||| Question?
